Top 3 Rock 'n' Roll Bands

We all have opinions on the best rock 'n' roll bands. This list will be short and in no particular order. These are my top three.

1. The Rolling Stones.

I was not a huge fan growing up. Still, as the years have gone by (not tears),  actually those too, I have to give them credit for their songwriting, commitment to the craft, and ability to accept their musical limitations and simply not have to be technical gods. This is what puts them in my top three. I mean they are not prodigies. They have, however, managed to take their influences and weave a very dare I say "formula" to reach the masses. They also have the business's most successful band logo and band image. Their perseverance is legendary at this point. It's time to give it up though. They have blessed us with so much incredible music. Thank You. Now get some rest!

2. The Beatles.

No shocker here. I wasn't a big fan of them growing up even though my older brothers were into them. I much preferred the Stones. What can I say. In my later years I can see that they were revolutionary for the music industry and with Lennon's shannagans, they made a few political statements for peace to boot. Their songwriting was well crafted, and we all got hit with a blitzkrieg of hits, which was followed by the maturing of their songwriting skills. The icing on the cake was always supplied by producer George Martin. Without whom they would not have had the success that they ultimately had. This marriage of raw, intuitive (as none of them read music) songwriting and Martin's classical influences and arrangement genius created the band's mass appeal. They just can't be denied.

3. AC/DC.

These guys knew how to write a hook. The drummer knows how to play powerful, easy-to-follow drum beats, and Angus and his brother couldn't help but follow suit with some simple, loud, cutting power chords. Mostly doubled as they mirrored each other's playing. Then add Bon's or Brian's vocal grit, which is so powerful. This mutt mix of Scottish,  Australian and English blokes just can't be ignored. Even a 90-year-old can't help but bob their head to these guys.

Here is the funny thing: I was obsessed with Led Zeppelin in my youth, and if I were to add a fourth band, it would be them. But they just don't get in the top three spots despite being my favorite band.
